Why become a driving instructor?

Approved driving instructor (ADI) part 1 test

Part 1 of the ADI test is the theory test. Similar to the test prospective drivers have to take, it is an in-depth multiple-choice test and a hazard perception activity. The test lasts 1 hour 45 minutes. You can find out more here.

Approved driving instructor (ADI) part 2 test

The second part of the test involves an eyesight test, a range of vehicle safety questions and a test of your own driving ability. You must pass part 1 before you can take part 2 of the test. You can find out more here.

Approved driving instructor (ADI) part 3 test

The third and final part of the driving instructor test and is a test of your ability to instruct pupils. This includes an assessment of core competencies, instructional techniques and instructor characteristics. Find out more here.
